I can't speak for the majority of BIRD constructions work, but they have no clue how to set up road signs and barricades. Especially the road lines. It's brutal to say the least. They are currently doing construction down 75/66th street for the new lrt. And they have had to reroute the roads to make way for construction. But the crew they deligated to do this particular job need learn how to do it correctly. I have called them about it, and they seemed really receptive and said they were getting a lot of complaints and would try to fix the issue. It's been two months and the same areas are still brutal. I drive down the road everyday, and I have people almost hit me, I see near misses all the time. They grind out previous roads lines, but they grind them out in perfect long rectangles so when the sun, or headlights hit them, they just look like regular lines. And then they try to paint new ones, but they are poorly done, crisscrossing over every other former line. Its mayhem... Also, the barricades are set up so close together that the lanes are often reduced down to one lane if any snow piles up against the barricade. Which in turn, almost causes more accidents! The people in charge of this need to take a step back and allow someone competent to take their place. How the city hasn't fixed the issue is a mystery to me. I am going to be contacting cbc and other local news stations about this. Along with sending in formal complaints to the mayor. Whoever currently does this job should be taught how to do it properly, or fired. The thing that irritates me about it most, is that it is such a simple job. This alone makes me call into question the competence of BIRD construction. Because if they can't even get road lines and barricades correct, how about their elevations, foundations, structures, utilities, lrt tracks, and bridges? That doesn't necessarily mean they don't know what they are doing, but it would be something I would certainly consider when looking to hire BIRD for future construction projects.
